Calm Exam-Day Habits Every Student Can Practise
Practical preparation and exam-hall habits that reduce panic and help you show what you already know.
Feeling nervous before an examination is common. What matters is having habits that keep those nerves from blocking clear thinking. This article shares general study habits, not medical advice.
The night before
- Pack your ID, writing materials, and required stationery.
- Review a short summary sheet—avoid starting brand-new topics late at night.
- Set two alarms and decide travel time with a buffer.
Inside the hall
Read instructions carefully. Scan the paper, start with questions you can answer confidently, and mark harder items to return to later. Keep an eye on the clock without checking it every minute.
If your mind races, pause for three slow breaths and reread the question stem. Many errors come from rushing past a key word such as “not,” “except,” or “explain.” Steady process beats panic speed.
